Gottman Level I Trained
I'm Ross, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate with a passion for helping people build stronger, healthier connections. I hold a Master of Arts in Marriage & Family Therapy from Touro University Worldwide and a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Studies from Grand Canyon University. Before becoming a therapist, I spent nearly 25 years in church pastoral ministry, walking alongside individuals and families through life’s most meaningful and challenging moments.
I am passionate about helping individuals, couples, and families navigate life’s challenges with compassion, understanding, and a solution-focused mindset. With more than two decades of experience in pastoral counseling, I have had the privilege of working with people from all walks of life, guiding them through personal struggles, relationship conflicts, and major life transitions.
Throughout my career, I’ve remained committed to supporting clients in building stronger relationships, developing healthy coping strategies, and discovering their own capacity for growth and resilience.
My professional journey began in pastoral ministry, where I spent many years providing guidance and support to those facing emotional, spiritual, and relational challenges. I worked closely with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and addiction, offering a compassionate presence during some of life’s most difficult seasons. This experience deepened my understanding of the human spirit’s ability to persevere and heal, and it solidified my belief in the power of resilience, empathy, and hope. In every interaction, I strive to create a non-judgmental and supportive space where clients feel safe to explore their thoughts, emotions, and personal struggles.
My therapeutic approach is grounded in compassion, collaboration, and practical solutions. I believe that therapy is most effective when it is a partnership, with clients actively involved in their own healing and growth. My work integrates evidence-based techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and mindfulness practices. These methods help clients develop insight, manage their emotions, and build healthier, more meaningful relationships. Whether I am working with individuals seeking personal growth, couples navigating relational conflicts, or families striving for better communication, my goal is to provide actionable tools and strategies that promote long-term change.
My personal experiences also shape my understanding of relationships and the complexities of family dynamics. I have been married for 23 years, and throughout that time, my spouse and I have partnered together, supporting each other in both our personal and professional lives. Our shared experiences have deepened my appreciation for the challenges that come with maintaining a strong, supportive partnership through life’s many transitions. As someone in a cross-cultural marriage, I bring a unique perspective to the cultural factors that influence relationships. This awareness allows me to work with clients from diverse backgrounds in a way that respects and honors their cultural identities and experiences.
Raising two children has also provided me with a firsthand understanding of the joys and difficulties that come with nurturing strong family bonds. This personal perspective enriches my work with clients who are navigating parenting challenges, blended family dynamics, or generational differences. I believe that strong families are built on mutual respect, open communication, and a commitment to growth, which are principles that I incorporate into my work with clients to help them foster healthier, more supportive relationships.
Being based in San Antonio, I am attuned to the unique cultural, social, and community dynamics that can influence mental health and relationships in this region. I am committed to providing an empathetic and inclusive environment where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered to pursue meaningful change. My mission is to help each client recognize their inherent worth and equip them with the tools to navigate life’s challenges with confidence and resilience.
